Career Options Plentiful For Graphic Design Graduates
Calgary, AB (PRWEB) September 27, 2009 –- A graphic design diploma opens the door to a variety of career options, according to industry professional Nick Pons. The Computer Graphic Design diploma program at Reeves College teaches the necessary skill sets to help graduates kick-start a successful career in creativity.
“Graduates of a graphic design program have access to many career options, including art or creative director, photo editor, communications manager, or production coordinator,” says Pons, a designer for Brady Dahmer Designs in Vancouver.
Brady Dahmer Production Manager, Elizabeth McDonald, says employers are seeking designers who are detail-oriented and deadline-driven, as well as those who possess a strong work ethic and ability to collaborate with an eclectic mix of colleagues and clients.
“Solid technical skills are the foundation for any young designer entering the workforce,” she says. “But self motivation and strong communication skills will set you apart from the rest.”
A day in the life of a Brady Dahmer designer includes juggling a variety of projects for multiple clients and researching and developing creative concepts.
The Reeves College Computer Graphic Design diploma program teaches students how to turn their creative vision into a reality. Courses teach basic design elements, such as layout, typography, colour, and pre-press. Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and QuarkXpress, HTML and Dreamweaver are also part of the curriculum. As well, graduates will enter the workforce with a solid design portfolio.
Reeves College is currently accepting applications for the Computer Graphic Design diploma program at campuses in Calgary and Lethbridge. More information on this program is available at http://reevescollege.ca/Campus_Programs/Art_and_Design_Programs
